Single bump · Balanced damper · 25 N/mm spring
Cruising: the car rests on its springs
On a smooth road, once the last bump's bouncing has died away, nothing moves. The coil spring holds the body up at its ride height and the tyre carries a steady share of the car's weight. Everything above the spring is 'sprung'; the wheel, hub and knuckle below it are 'unsprung'.
Body vs wheel · one lap
Body Wheel Roadrange −20 mm to +80 mmOver this lap the body moved between −17 mm and +40 mm; the tyre stayed on the road (lightest moment 58% of its static load).
